Recommended Reads: Mastery by Robert Greene

What does it truly mean to master one’s craft? Does being a master mean being the best there is, or perhaps knowing the complex operations of a skill? Mastery by Robert Greene seeks to really define what it means to be a master. He analyzes how the great artists, scientists, and engineers of ages old became true masters of their time. Easily one of my top 5 favorite books, there a many key lessons to take away for anyone who really wants to contribute something great in their lifetime!

TLDR;

Mastery is “the feeling that we have a greater command of reality, other people, and ourselves.” A master knows the rules and interactions of every facet of their field so well they are free to break and rewrite those rules, creating something new. Gaining this mastery is no easy task and there is no shortcut. It often takes a profound amount of time practicing the fundamentals to understand how they work (anyone studying for the CCIE can relate!). That being the case, it is imperative to dedicate your time to90a craft that is your true passion in life.
