About Me

My name is John Cuneo and I am a fiend for personal growth and technology. I work with Cisco Systems as an Associate Systems Engineer, where I help businesses succeed through technological innovation.

Three of my favorite words are strategy, vision, and impact. Everything I do is part of a strategy to achieve a vision of positive impact on the world. I possess a resolute drive to accomplish my personal and professional goals in life. One of my core ideologies is growth at the edge of comfort. I will always take on enough responsibility to begin feeling slightly uncomfortable. When pushed to the edge of my comfort zone I am able to experience the most profound growth.

Currently, I hold a Bachelors of Science of Business Administration from the University of Miami, where I majored in Business Technology and Business Analytics. I am also enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology, earning my Master of Science in Computer Science with a specialization in machine learning. Outside the classroom I have earned several industry certifications including the following:

  • Cisco: CCNP Route & Switch
  • ITIL: Foundations
  • Project Management Institute: CAPM
  • CompTIA A+, Network+

Right now, my next big goal is earning my CCIE R&S.

Hobbies
Mentoring

There is an old Chinese proverb that I am sure you have heard before:

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

This is a philosophy that I believe in fully. One of the most fulfilling uses of my time is mentoring others. Whether that be on a professional level or a more personal level. The way I see it, the greatest impact on the world I have is the ripple effect of someone I have helped grow going on to have positive impacts of their own. That being said, feel free to reach out to me at any time!

Culinary Arts

I absolutely love creating warm meals for my friends and family. Seeing everyone happily scarf down my cooking and merrily chatting at the dinner table is one of my favorite moments to enjoy. If I don’t have time to prepare full meals, even watching Food Wishes on YouTube can be a pleasant substitute.

Video Games

Playing video games is the perfect opportunity to take a mental break from whatever it is I am working on at the time. Preferring the fantasy RPG genre ensures that my brain gets to completely shift gears for a few hours and get immersed in to a whole different world with its own unique stories, politics, and nature.

Reading

My go-to books to read revolve around personal and professional development. Anything that can give me new nuggets of wisdom or techniques for productivity are welcome to a permanent spot in my ever-growing library. A few of my favorites are Think and Grow Rich, Mastery, and The Art of War.
